Can AI drink and smoke?

I was once in an office with a former professor of mine discussing the current occupation at a company where I worked as a software engineer.

A PhD student, who was his teaching assistant walked in and we started discussing the use of AI in workplaces, coding and its future. Saying that within years all software engineering companies will be obsolete as well as the general role itself as well. I was at the time writing a paper on quantum computing, more so quantum physics. I argued that no matter what happens software engineers will still stay, but all the people that are not supposed to be within the field that are purely there because of the excess demand will be finding themselves at the nearest homeless shelters very soon. All the python and web junkies who dedicated 30 hours to a Udemy course essentially. Or people that have a piece of paper certifying they hold an advanced education degree in computer science, which is hard to believe after a 5 minute conversation about the topic.

All I could say is that AI is never replacing my drinking or smoking, nicotine pouches, whatever.

To which the PhD student reacted in a poor way, taking it way too seriously.

But, for a moment I do want to take the question seriously. Will AI be able to smoke and drink in the future? I want to hypothetically imagine a scenario where that could be a possibility.

Let's think about a relatively more distant future where AI's understanding is beyond being a next word predictor. Let it be a tad bit more advanced than that. Imagine a synthesized amalgamation of emotion recognition, cognitive modeling, sentiment analysis, and structured knowledge representation. Would that thing get overwhelmed and create notions of drinking and smoking. Which are just two terms I want to use to describe the abstraction layer to which these relatively cognitive beings emulate on a firmware or a kernel level. Does it deliberately corrupt its own reward model? Or does it flood itself with random training data until weights collapse? Is this what they'll use to deal with the realization of existence?
